“PomPom” is a reference to the pomegranate fruit – historically known as an intoxicating aphrodisiac that blends naturally sweet and tart flavors.  The ancient Greeks revered the pomegranate as a symbol of Aphrodite, the Goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture.

About The Founders:

Lori Clement is an East Coast girl and has a professional background in TV advertising and media.  She loves writing steamy romance novels, losing herself in cheesy romantic comedies and finding a reason to make her friends dance in the street.  Lori received her education from Syracuse University and Columbia Business School.

Mandy Tang has lived in New York City for the past five years, and has extensive experience in the fashion and advertising industries.  Mandy loves using her Le Creuset pot for cooking, running outdoors, and obsessing about the Twilight saga.  Mandy received her education from Brown University and Columbia Business School.

Both ladies are currently engaged to their lifetime sweethearts and plan to be married in 2010!

We just said “why not?”

Hi there!  Let us introduce ourselves.  We are the co-founders of PomPomLove:  Lori Clement and Mandy Tang.  We met each other in business school (read: we are nerds) – and pretty soon the idea of PomPomLove was all consuming.  We created PomPomLove because we both knew amazing, attractive (yes, really!), and willing men and women.  The problem?  They had trouble meeting people because they didn’t know anyone out of their social circle, were spending ridiculous hours at the office, or were just plain shy.

PomPom came out of the genuine desire to connect the coolest people that we know. We’ve seen the difference that Finding Love can make (that great flushed-cheek look, desire to use emoticons, general positivity), and we honestly think that it can be the answer to many of life’s problems.

We’ve always wanted to call ourselves “entrepreneurs” …  (to answer the cocktail party question of, “and what do you do?” with “oh! i’m an entrepreneur” — so delicious!).  And so here we are!  PomPom wants to bring fresh innovation to the love industry, and there’s no better time to start than now.

Who will I meet?

The PomPom Woman is chic, down-to-earth, sexy, and sophisticated when she wants to be.  She’s a professional or graduate student who Has Her Shit Together.  She has a great sense of humor, loves to laugh at herself, and has a quirky or wild side.  She has a great education and ambitious career track.  She is most likely 25-30 years old and is open to or looking for a relationship when she meets the right man.

The PomPom Man is confident not cocky, has the swagger of a gentleman and likes an adventure.  He’s a professional or graduate student 27 – 35 years old.  He is a banker, a lawyer, an engineer, an architect, an artist, an entrepreneur – a fighter, and a lover.  Like all men, he’s looking for good company and is open to or looking for a relationship with the right woman.

What can i, um, expect?

1.  Welcome to the Party!

You arrive and are immediately signed in and given a complimentary drink.   This is your first opportunity to get a sense of who is in the room.  Feel free to mingle with others, introduce yourself, and make mental notes of whoever piques your interest.  We provide a PomPom Datebook (very important) to keep track of your love connections.

We begin with a group icebreaker to bring out the more interesting details of the crowd.   You may learn some significant insights as you get to know people through this activity.  Your initial assumptions will be confirmed or tested as you discover who’s shy, who’s bold, and what makes people tick.

2.  Intimate Mini-Dates:

Connect one-on-one during a rotation of “mini-dates,” where you will have a special 8-minute exchange. Do you feel the heat?  Did you break the touch barrier?  Are you flirting shamelessly?  Good.

For your next mini-date, listen for directions on whether it will be a simple rotation – or if you’ll be asked to move around the room to find a match based on chance, preference, or science!

3.  Wrap-Up:

Take this last opportunity to connect with anyone else in the room.  If you’ve had your eye on someone, take advantage and meet them.  If you met someone, and don’t want the conversation to end, by all means continue it.  Have another drink, flirt, and indulge yourself.

At the end, we’ll ask you to provide us with a list of your favorite matches.  This is the best part!  Who do you want to see again?  Fill out your datebook and let us know.  Remember, you can list anyone in the room – whether you had an official mini-date with them or not.  Within 24 hours, we’ll send you an e-mail with the Mutual Matches and provide guidance on how to take things further.
